Road Gallery AU

Welcome to the Road Bike Gallery. Here you'll find a selection of photos from past demos. You never know, you might even be featured. These will be updated within a few days of each event so you can see what's been going on at past venues

The Basin & Lysterfield Park

Saturday's road bike demo was held at The Basin. Plenty of riders took advantage of the Demo Tour's fleet of Scott and Avanti road bikes to ride these beautiful roads. The location in synonymous with Melbourne road riders, it's the starting point for the 1 in 20 climb to Sassafras and the Dandenong Ranges. Sunday's MTB demo was held at Melbourne's popular Lysterfield Lake MTB Park. Packs of Kangaroos greeted us at sunrise and packs of keen MTB'ers ready to test the Avanti and Scott MTB were not far behind. Big thanks to everyone who came out for a ride and to look and chat bikes.

Craigburn Farm

The Demo Tour rolled into Adelaide's Craigburn Farm, south of the city on Sunday 9th February. It were a super busy day and we were blessed with cool conditions which had plenty of riders out riding after suffering through another famous Adelaide heat wave and bush fires. Speaking of bush fires, The Demo Tour almost didn't make it to the event as we were evacuated from our cabins at the Belair Caravan Park, but could only get the Scott Trailer out, lucky for us the CFA did an amazing job and controlled the fire in the Belair National Park quickly and we were able to return to our cabin late Saturday. So, thank you to all of the passionate riders who came along to test ride the fleets of Scott and Avanti road and Mountain Bikes. The Demo Tour rolls on into Perth this coming weekend, remember to bring your drivers licence Identification and relevant shoes for each bike you'd like to ride, ie road or mtb. Ciao see you on the road. The Demo Tour.

Central Coast- NSW

The next stop on the Demo Tour was a night shop ride with Dan and the locals in Gosford. With the end of daylight savings we all donned our lights to tackle the local roads. The Cateye Nano Shot lights make it easy to spot any potholes and to be seen by traffic. The handy USB port makes it easy to recharge. The Road Demo tour has enough bikes to out fit a team. Everybody gets a chance to try out everything from the Scott Plasma 30 to the zippy Avanti Quantum. The Quantum has race geometry and a monocoque frame that responds well when putting the power down. The Quantum has a BB86 bottom bracket and has strength from the MODS (Maximum Output Differential Stays). If you like climbing then the Quantum is a fully loaded race machine that will enable you to crack the bunch and push past your limits.

Narrabeen- NSW

The sun was shining on beautiful Bayview Park Sydney’s north. Steve and his helpful staff were on hand to help out the local roadie’s try out the Scott and Avanti Road bikes. The local roads offer some safe riding within pristine National Parks with some stunning views. The AvantiPlus Narrabeen store is perfectly located to serve cyclists in the area as they are keen cyclists themselves who also use these roads. Avantiplus went out of its way to help David and Gabriel with another test ride on the following morning which helped seal the deal and there are now two more happy Scott Foil Team owners. The Road Demo Tour also serves to give shop staff a chance to play around on all the bikes in the range. So when you are speaking to them about your next road bike they can give you first hand experience on the characteristics of the bikes. The Road Demo has bikes equipped with the new mechanical 11-Speed Dura-Ace groupsets. This has to be the pinnacle of mechanical shifting. The redesigned levers offer improved ergonomics and the braking power of the brakes allow you to carry more speed into corners. The Scott Foil Team and the Avanti Corsa 4 are in the fleet waiting to be tested.

Launceston- TAS

The next stop in Tasmania was in Launceston. We now know why there are so many good riders coming from this region as the air is clean, the roads are quiet and there are hills everywhere! Ben and his team had many riders come and try out the bikes and the Tour also serves to give the staff some time on the bikes so they can really get to know the product. One evening we were lucky to head out and catch staff member and local Huon Salmon-Genesys Wealth Advisors rider Tom Robinson as he prepared to tackle the NRS this year by pacing behind a scooter at over 60km/hr. We took the easier option of cruising back to the store. Opinions were divided on the Scott Foil and the Avanti Corsa. The final verdict went to the Corsa for its sleek looks and design touches such as integrated skewer levers, aero headset caps and of course the understated matt black finish.

AvantiPlus Cannington Demo- WA

Saturday 9 February 2013 saw the Demo Tour hit the biggest Avantiplus store in Australia, AvantiPlus Cannington. It was an early start on Saturday with 3 three groups hitting the road at 6.30am. It was great to see was riders from all three groups put their hand up to test the latest Avanti and Scott bikes. All three groups went out for a decent 60km ride and it's always great to see the bikes come back to the tents with the riders having huge grins on their faces. If you did miss out on this opportunity we will be at Avantiplus Rockingham on Saturday 16th February and on Sunday 17th we will be set up in the Perth Hills for the morning at Mundaring Weir Road, Hacketts Gully.

Cyclemania Demo- WA

It was a nice cool morning that greeted the Cyclemania bunch ride in North Perth. We set up a couple of the shop staff on our demo bikes, including the Scott Foil and Plasma. These guys certainly know their bikes, with pros like Cam Meyer as regulars to the store. One late runner got two punctures on the way to the ride, and before he could get the second tyre off we convinced him to try the Scott Foil. He came back to us elated with the ride, and promptly got on the phone to his mates to get down to the store and try a true race bred machine. The Scott Cr1’s were just as popular with riders noting how comfortable but responsive the ride was. All the staff came out to play on the bikes with one purchasing his own Plasma after trialling it in the shop ride earlier that morning. It was all hands on deck as people were waiting to be the next to try the Foils. Much obliged to the boys who supplied great coffee when it was needed the most, delivered on bike of course!

Avantiplus Woodville Demo- SA

The Demo Tour rolled into Adelaide after crossing the Nullabor just in time to meet up with Andy at the AvantiPlus Woodville shop ride. Andy wanted to trial the new Avanti Corsa DR4, the flagship aero road bike currently being used by the Huon Salmon-Genesys Wealth Advisors Cycling Team. The slippery aerodynamics and the 11 Speed Dura Ace groupset allowed Andy to easily roll along at 50km/hr. The stunning graphics went well with his AvantiPlus kit. Paul is new to cycling, having taken it up only 4 months ago. He is now hooked and trialled the Scott CR1 with Ultegra Di2. After a short climb in Brighton he was keen to get going again. At the coffee stop, Paul was convinced that the CR1 was going to be his next bike. “I’ve just beaten all my records” was his comment after looking back over his ride’s stats.

Salisbury Semo - SA

Gavin, his sons Kirby and Steel and the rest of the staff put on a great welcome to the customers coming in for the demo outside the popular store. With every rider testing at least three bikes from the Scott and Avanti range we had almost topped 100 rides for the afternoon. The rain didn’t dampen the smiles and the BBQ kept everyone warm as the skies opened up for some respite to the heatwave. Josh (in the WEET-BIX Jersey) tested the Avanti Corsa DR4, Scott CR1, Avanti Quantum and finished off with the Scott Team Foil. “Man! Does that put a smile on your face!” was his comment after notching up some good miles for the evening. Many of the riders had visited the Scott-Avanti Demo Tour display during the Tour Down Under and had made a special visit to Salisbury to get a chance to try the Avanti Corsa DR4 in their size. The attention to detail from the integrated skewers, shaped headset caps and the aero seatpost clamp drew them, but the wind splitting ride, lightweight feel and sharp acceleration kept them out on the road pushing themselves and machine to their limits.

Adelaide Demo- SA

The Demo Tour landed in what is arguably the cycling mecca for Adelaide, the Glenelg beachside roads. Thousands of cyclists use the popular route between Brighton and the Port turnaround. A good portion visited the Demo Tour based in Wigley Reserve on Saturday morning. It was all hands on deck as Andy from Woodville AvantiPlus stopped by with his shop ride group. Paul was back after trying out the Scott CR1 the previous week. He jumped on a Scott Team Foil to feel the difference and returned to state that he prefers the ride that the CR1 gives. The SDS (Shock Damping System) built into the rear triangle gives a comfortable ride without a loss in performance. Riders were lining up to get their hands on our aero road bikes, The Scott Foil Team and the Avanti Corsa DR4s. What better way than to feel the aerodynamic advantage than on roads ridden each weekend. Our demo bikes are kitted with Cateye Strada wireless computers, so riders don’t have to take our word for it, they can see that they are going faster! The sun shone in Glenelg, and a glimpse into our marquees showed almost empty racks and a trailer full of tester’s bikes. Every Avanti Questa was out at one point and when Claire showed up, Ben from Lifecycle got her on one of our Scott CR1’s. What better advocate for a bike than someone who has purchased his own, after riding a demo version during the TDU week. Claire is new to road riding and has plans to do another triathlon but on something better than her old hybrid. A big thanks to La Mussette Cafe who kindly delivered some siphoned coffee goodness and delicious homemade muffins. We love our coffee and cannot wait to get back to Melbourne for our Road Demo day at the Harrison St Velodrome in Brunswick!

The Basin- VIC

It was a beautiful Autumn day in the Dandenongs. Paul from Pinnacle Cycles at the foot of the 1-in-20 Climb put the call out to the mountain goats and they came. Paula came out to specifically try out the Avanti Questa 3. She had ridden up Mt.Buller on the weekend and was looking to find a bike that would allow her to make the most of her efforts up long climbs. The Questa has WISE geometry which tailors the geometry to suit women’s bodies. Couple that with a full carbon frame, Ultegra Compact chainset and narrower bars, the bike is made to perform for women! Dale spent a lot of time evaluating the performance and characteristics of our aero offerings, The Scott Foil Team and the Avanti Corsa DR4. With a crisp bite in the air, he set off to tackle the climb. We could hear the swoosh of the Syncros Wheels as he was sprinting away on the Foil. Half an hour later he was on the Corsa to put it through its paces. With the consensus split evenly between the staff on their preference, the clear winner is anyone wanting to get a true test of a bike by riding on familiar roads. The Demo Tour will be in Tasmania for a week but will return Easter weekend to the popular Beach Road on the 31st March!

Mordialloc- VIC

The Demo Tour rolled back into Melbourne with a visit to the popular Mordialloc turnaround on Beach Road. The chilly morning didn’t stop the hundreds of riders who use this famous stretch to test the legs or for a catch up with friends. Bill from AvantiPlus Carnegie and Andy from AvantiPlus Frankston came down to lend a hand. Waves of riders came in to see what was on offer from the Scott and Avanti range. Bill was quick in describing all the attributes of the electronic gearing on the Di2 equipped Scott CR1 A long battery life, easy to use interface and the adaptability to upgrade to 11-speed all make the Ultegra Di2 a great choice to enter the future of componentry. The electronic version only adds 30 grams to the mechanical version but the increase in smoothness and adjustability make this the perfect combination with the comfortable ride of the CR1. Mico from Melbourne has his eye on the Scott Foil 40, and used the opportunity to test ride the Foil Team for sizing. He was rapt in catching and passing other cyclists along Beach Road. We can always tell when returning riders have a smile on their faces and are breathing heavily from the effort that they have had a good time.

Ocean Grove- VIC

It was all hands on deck at the AvantiPlus Ocean Grove Demo. Everyone came in knowing exactly what they wanted to ride and what they were looking for. Of course you don’t have to be so prepared, as the guys at the Road demo are happy to guide you towards a bike that will suit your needs. Many people came in for the ever popular Scott Foil Team. The Demo tour serves to give people a true indication of what a race bred speed machine feels like. Scott have the Foil in options that allow people to ride on what is arguably the best frame with options of the Scott Foil 20 with Ultegra and the Scott Foil 40 running 105. The Road demo tour has all bikes in every size so that we can find the best bike for your body.

Devonport- TAS

The Road Demo Tour crossed Bass Strait to land in Devonport. The guys at Gr8Ride Cycles put on a warm welcome to the Tour. Many locals braved the gusty and wet conditions to come out to try the range of Scott Road and Time Trial bikes. Every rider came back puffing as they could not help themselves but sprint back up to the store. Those who decided on a sleep in were rewarded with some sunshine in the afternoon. The Cr1’s were used on the local rough roads and soaked up everything they could dish out. The SDS rear stays are compliant but you don’t lose any performance from the bike. One latecomer wanted to find out why his current bike was getting speed wobbles, we promptly put him on a Scott Foil so he could feel what a true speed machine could feel like. The guys were happy to report that there is now a new Foil owner thanks to the Demo Tour.

Geelong- VIC

It was a bumpy ferry ride back to the mainland with the next stop being in Geelong. The city is very lucky to have the Belmont Criterium Track where riders can race and ride safely off the roads. Bike Power had their customers down to try out the Scott Foils. Lap after lap they were struck as to the ease of which the Foil cuts through the wind while also having great acceleration. The fit of the Foil also allows for women riders to find a good position on the bike with the availability of both XS and XXS sizing. Testament to this is the great results being achieved in Europe by the Orica-AIS women’s team and Team Hitec as they dominate the podium places.
